BAK AUDITION PREP - COMMUNICATION ARTS & THEATER 

Grades 4-7   |   1 Hour    |     Wednesdays 5pm-6pm 

 

If your child is interested in auditioning for Bak Middle School of the Arts for the 2026-2027 school year, our in-person prep class taught by Ms. Kat will have them ready to go in January! Black Dog Productions has years of experience preparing students across Palm Beach County for their auditions. Communication Arts students will learn film critique, prepare and memorize a speech, and work on their creative writing skills. Theater students will learn how to prepare an audition scene with a partner, how to handle cold readings and redirects, and explore the option of auditioning with a musical theater song. This combined class is ideal for kids trying out for both art areas, while allowing students to concentrate on their art area of choice.

 

Parents will receive all the information they need to navigate the Choice program (including important links and deadlines). We will also host a Q&A session for students featuring Bak graduates. The last two sessions will be treated as a mock audition, with students expected to dress in appropriate attire.

DREYFOOS AUDITION PREP - COMMUNICATION ARTS/DIGITAL MEDIA - CLASS IS FULL - WAITLIST AVAILABLE  

Grades 8-11   |   1 Hour   |   Wednesdays 6pm-7pm

This class is for students interested in auditioning for Communication Arts or Digital Media at Dreyfoos. Students will work one-on-one with Ms. Kat in their area of discipline, becoming familiar with the different elements of their art area's audition. We will work on mock interviews, presentation skills, and learn what it takes to pass the DSOA audition. Once audition requirements are released in October, we will work on the specific portfolio pieces necessary for each art area. Both of these art areas require some work to be completed and submitted to Dreyfoos prior to the auditions in January. Communication Arts students should have their speech written and storyboard completed by the end of this session.

DREYFOOS AUDITION PREP - THEATER - ACTING & TECHNICAL THEATER 

Grades 8-11   |   1 Hour   |   Wednesdays 7pm-8pm

This class is for students interested in auditioning for Tech Theater and/or Acting at Dreyfoos. Students will work one-on-one with Ms. Kat in their area of discipline, focusing on their monologue or technical theater piece. We will work on mock interviews, improv skills, and learn what it takes to pass the DSOA audition. Once audition requirements are released in October, we will work on the specific portfolio pieces necessary for each art area.
