WINTER 2024 CLASSES
At Black Dog, kids and teens can express themselves and make connections through theater, acting, & improv activities that promote personal expression and social interaction in a welcoming and friendly environment. Our classes are age-based and are appropriate for beginners hoping to improve their confidence and public speaking skills as well as experienced actors looking to practice their craft and grow as performers.
Our curriculum changes with each session so each class brings new games, scenes, monologues, and experiences. All classes are drop-off classes.

BEGINNING ACTING
Grades K-1 | 45 Minutes | Thursdays @ 4:00pm
Children learn a tremendous amount from playing. Drama games are a natural extension of a young child's normal play behavior. The difference, however, is that drama activities also teach children to understand rules, instructions, and appropriate group behavior. Drama games also help to build confidence in those who are shy or reluctant. We invite our youngest friends to come tell stories and share their imaginations with us! On the last day of class our actors will perform for parents. *Please note this is a drop-off class. Parents are welcome to stay the first class to observe.*
$175 for Seven-Week Session | OCTOBER 24 – DECEMBER 19 (NO CLASS 10/31 or 11/26)
IMPROV I
Grades 2-4 | 1 Hour | Thursdays @ 5pm
This class is all about building our acting skills when we don't have a script! Students will learn how to use their observation, concentration, creativity, and quick-thinking skills. We will explore the “how” of improv theater, then apply what we’ve learned while playing fast-paced improv games. A fun and funny class! We will perform a short demonstration of what we’ve learned on the last day of class.
$175 for Seven-Week Session | OCTOBER 24 – DECEMBER 19 (NO CLASS 10/31 or 11/26)
IMPROV II
Grades 5-9 | 1 Hour | Thursdays @ 6pm
Students will learn the basics of improvising a scene and how to keep it afloat. We will explore the tools of working as a team and building authentic characters that keep scenes fresh and funny. As we play more advanced improv games, students will broaden their creativity and on-the-spot thinking skills. We will perform a short demonstration of what we’ve learned on the last day of class.
